Tuesday, January 24, 2006It's Time to Get Serious About My Art...... so I've decided to apply to the 4-year Diploma program (120 credits of studio art) at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA). I've been exploring different art schools here in the Boston area & the advantage of this particular program is that there are no academic requirements & I will be able to design a course of study that meets my particular needs. October 1st is the deadline for the application, which includes 2 essays & a portfolio of a minimum of 20 pieces so the next 9 months are going to be really, really, REALLY busy. I'm planning to use the new pieces being created this semester for the Collage & Mixed Media course that I'm taking with Laurel Sparks at the SMFA as part of my portfolio. In addition to the Diploma program, the SMFA offers a Fifth Year Certificate program which is 1 year of independent work concluding with a juried exhibition which is fully supported by the Museum School's faculty & exhibition staff.
